Subida Souvenirs

If you want to get some Instagram-worthy photos, Subida Souvenirs shop in Valencia, Negros Oriental is a perfect spot for you.  Subida offers many great products that were locally made.

On your way in, you must press the buzzer located beside the front door to call the attention of their staffs. But wait, we had noticed two famous local stuff that was used for entertainment and fun both for kids and adults.

These two bamboo-made products became part of every locals' childhood memories. "Takarang" or bamboo stilts (left photo) and "ligiron" (right photo) were both very common back in the old days.

As you enter the building, you will see lots of local products that are being arranged and well-displayed. The ambiance is quite good although you have to increase the camera's exposure setting since the room is dim. Now it's time to unleash your inner photography skills. We even started snapping and taking shots right before we arrived at the spot.

There were lots of peculiar things being displayed such as paintings, figurines, bamboo products, body and non-body accessories, and many more. Our eyes were dazzled by so many things in front of us and it seems that our hands were urged to touch all of them.

Some things just caught our eyes and the arts were very artistic. The shop is filled with nice crafts indeed.

Subida also sells prestigious bags and wallets that are great to be taken home to show how you support local products.

On the second floor, there were artistic and eccentric arts exhibited.

We had the opportunity to use the "ligiron" and "takarang" placed outside. And yes, it was very fun. We had the chance to reminisce our childhood past.

Getting into this location is easy as one, two, and three. If you're commuting and your starting point is anywhere in Dumaguete, you must go to the Public Utility Jeepney terminal and ride on a jeepney going to Valencia. The ride usually takes more or less 20 minutes depending on the traffic. On your way to Valencia, you must notify the jeepney driver to stop to Subida as it's not the arrival point of the jeepney. Don't worry as the Subida has installed a big dream catcher just outside it's building. It's big enough for your eyes to see easily.
